You did such a fantastic job showing New York City. You show the kind of New York City that one can only know by living here. The above ground trains are so iconic, but you can only see them in Brooklyn and Queens (maybe in the Bronx, too, I don't know). And graffiti art is such a huge part of NYC culture. I've lived in NYC for 4 years, and you have shown me something new. What an experience! You could live here for a lifetime and never see it all.
(If you are interested in learning about the history of graffiti in NYC, there is a great documentary from 1983 called "Style Wars.")
I really like how either Karina or Madjid is in all the photos with the graffiti art. The art, of course, is incredible. And I can't believe I've never heard of this magical place. But for me, watching the video, it is so much more interesting (and fun) to see you both experiencing the art: observing the details closely, making faces, and interacting with the art.
Did you use a wide-screen format for the video? A nice choice for a photo presentation.
You have become quite skilled at editing videos! I am really impressed. You combined so many elements: voice recordings, images, music, and video. And it's all so well planned, and subtle. Beginning with iconic images of New York City for your introduction, so we can "enter" your video from what we already understand. Bringing in the exciting music when you show your photos. (And you keep the music playing in the background, when the video of the 7 train begins, to keep the continuity! So smart!)
What song do you use in the background?
I'm a fan for life. And YES, I do want to see more. Many more! Don't ever stop exploring and making art from your experiences!
I found the graffiti documentary on YouTube. It's about an hour long. It's actually a documentary about all of the "underground" (hidden from the public) art scenes of the late 1970s, early 1980s, including Rap and break-dancing.
There are no subtitles, so it may be difficult to understand the interviews. But I recommend scanning through the video to see how different New York City was in 1983.
