- Become a "Blog Author": Requesting an invitation
- How to post: A video from Google
Please remember: You can't break the Internet! If you don't know what a button or link does, click on it and find out. You can always make changes to your post later, even after you publish it.
1. What can you post?
We have more than 50 posts now. Take a look at some of the examples to get ideas. Here are some general suggestions:
- Creative projects (this includes videos, photos, art, etc.)
- Your writing: Poems, stories, essays. I promise you, we are interested in reading it.
- Introductions: Tell us about yourself.
- Interviews and Surveys: Ask questions to students in a different class.
- Teach a lesson: Something you learned about English or grammar, about culture, about your interests.
- Ask a question: Maybe you found something confusing on the Internet and would like to ask others about it.
If you are not sure about your post, you can always save it as a draft, and ask your teacher or classmates to look at it before you post.
2. Please don't post-
- Personal messages to individuals: You can use email for personal messages. Your audience is the students and teachers of NYC and Bejaia.
- Personal information: addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, last names (you can use first name, last initial)
Note: Some students are not comfortable having their pictures or videos on this blog. We will do everything we can to respect everyone's wishes for privacy. If you see something about you that you don't want here, please let me (Eric) or Hakim know, so we can remove it.
3. Become a "Blog Author": Request an Invitation
Anyone can comment, this includes classmates, your family, friends, coworkers, anyone you show this blog to.
Before you can post:
- You must have a Google account: If you have a Gmail account, you already have a Gmail account. Google/Gmail accounts are free, and you can open one here.
- Create a generic Gmail account: If you don't want to attach your name to posts or comments, ask your teacher to make a generic account that the whole class can use. I made one for my class: Level4NYC@gmail.com. (Don't share the password with anyone who isn't in your class!)
- Email your teacher and ask for an invitation to become a Blog Author.
4. How to Post: A Video from Google
This video shows:
- How to edit text
- How to add a picture
- How to schedule your post
- How to preview
Posting can be difficult at first. If you have trouble, please write your question in the comments on this page. If one student has a question, there are certainly more students with similar questions.
Happy Posting!
-Eric, NYC
