About This Blog

Welcome to English NYC and Béjaïa!

This is a blog for adult English language learners and teachers.

For Students
This is a place to view the creative projects of talented ESOL* and EFL** students and find free and high-quality online materials for learning English.

We hope that you will look at our posts, comment, ask questions, learn and practice new technology, and find inspiration for your own projects to share.  And we hope that you will make new friends from around the world, who share our common goal: improving English for communication

*ESOL: English for Speakers of Other Languages; students learning English in a country (like the US) where English is the primary language.

**EFL: English as a Foreign Language; students learning English in a country (like Algeria) where English is not a primary language.

For Teachers
Our adult students have amazing stories to share, and many hidden talents.  Our goal is to provide an audience of passionate learners and educators.  We also hope to share lesson plans and project ideas, valuable materials, develop our abilities to use technology in the classroom, and offer support.

This project is new for Hakim and me, and we are still learning how to make the most of the blog platform.  Our ultimate goal is to create a collaborative project between students from around the world.  I think we are both excited to find out what this will be.

Are you interested in joining our blog with your class?  Email Eric at the address listed below.  Please take some time to look around at the blog before you email.  In your email, share a little about your class: the school, the city, the students, your goals, etc.

For Everyone Else
You might be a friend or family member of one of the students.  You might work or volunteer at the organizations where Hakim or I teach.  You might be a teacher or student of English.  However you found us, we are happy that you are visiting.  You don't need to be student in our classes to comment.  If you enjoyed a student's writing or project, if you have any questions, please comment.  The students and teachers would appreciate your feedback!
